9th • CHRISTMAS CARD MAKERS

Christmas Card Day celebrates the joy of sending and receiving cards during the holiday season. This tradition began in the 1840s in England, and while digital greetings are popular today, handmade cards add a personal, heartfelt touch to the season.

  1. FUNNY FAMILY CARDS: Take silly family photos with props like reindeer antlers and elf hats to make humorous holiday cards.

  2. CRAFT A CARD-A-DAY: Each day leading up to Christmas, make a new card with a personal note. Kids can add drawings and stickers to make each card unique.

  3. SECRET NEIGHBOR CARDS: Make anonymous cards with cheerful messages and leave them in neighbors’ mailboxes to spread holiday cheer. This would be a good use for the cards made in activitiy #2 above.

  4. CARD COLLAGE WALL: Use old holiday cards to create a collage or wall display. Kids can cut out their favorite parts and arrange them into a seasonal art piece.

  5. MAIL DAY ADVENTURE: Take a family trip to the post office to mail your cards. Make it special by letting each child mail a card and learning about how the postal system works.
