DEEPER UNDERSTANDING • ONE CONVERSATION AT A TIME
It was late 2022. I felt crestfallen over the state of American discourse, media bias, fake news, propaganda, collegiality, and plain old fashioned manners. I started searching for a model I could use to form a group of open-minded individuals with a love for truth and learning where we could discuss the issues of the day. Our goal would be attaining wisdom and knowledge through study and discussion so we could properly promote actions for the common good. What I finally landed upon was a Junto. I studied the materials I found from a historical perspective and assessed the Junto as a fitting blueprint for my little project.
In the annals of history, there are individuals whose intellect and innovation have left an indelible mark on society. Among them stands Benjamin Franklin, a polymath and one of America's founding fathers. While his contributions to science, politics, and diplomacy are well known, Franklin's creation of the Junto —a gathering of individuals dedicated to mutual improvement and societal progress—offers valuable insights into fostering collaboration and enlightenment that are just as pertinent in our modern world as ever. Although my goal is that you leave here feeling inspired to join a Junto, or perhaps even start your own, my deepest hope is that we both find ways to learn, to grow, and to bend the arc of our nation toward goodness. - Mary

In this section, I memorialize each of our Junto’s meetingS AND TOPICS with the badges you see below. EVEN THOUGH I began my Junto QUEST in late October, 2022, It wasn’t until JANUARY, 2023, THAT THE FIRST MEETING WAS HELD. Since that time, I’ve learned a few lessons and modified our Junto structure and process accordingly. Both the badges and this website are two of those changes.
