19th • SNOWFLAKE DAY
Snowflake Day celebrates the simple joy of creating paper snowflakes. This activity has long been a favorite winter pastime, providing a way to bring some of winter’s magic indoors. Since every snowflake design is unique, this holiday inspires kids to embrace creativity while learning about winter.
GLOW-IN-THE-DARK SNOWFLAKES: Use glow-in-the-dark paint or glitter to decorate the snowflakes. Once done, tape them to the ceiling or windows and turn off the lights for a magical “snowfall” experience indoors!
SNOWFLAKE MATH ART: Incorporate a mini math lesson by challenging kids to fold and cut snowflakes with geometric patterns like triangles and hexagons. They’ll discover symmetry in a hands-on way that makes learning fun.
SNOWFLAKE WINDOW GALLERY: Hang the snowflakes on a string across windows, creating a “gallery” of paper snow. The stringed snowflakes turn any room into a winter wonderland and can be rearranged or added to all season.
STORY TIME WITH SNOWFLAKES: Create snowflakes that represent different characters or themes, then make up stories about each one. This imaginative activity encourages storytelling, bringing the snowflakes “to life” with tales of wintery adventure.
SNOWFLAKE SWAP: Encourage kids to make extra snowflakes and exchange them with friends or neighbors, creating a “snowflake exchange.” They can decorate each one uniquely, giving and receiving winter cheer.
