May 1, 20??

Hugs and kisses abounded today, as our accomplices, Jaspir and Ada, piled into our car to surprise the family with May Baskets. As usual, everyone eventually solved who hid their basket, who rang the bell, and where they hid. Grown-ups loved getting the flowers and candy, but the most special was hugs from those sweet, snuggly children.

I’m not sure of the year (and will work to figure it out as I get more May Days archived, but there were no children yet at Mollie’s house, and no children still at my mother’s house for decades. Keith and I talked a little bit about that in the car with the kids, and how having kids around make holidays so much fun, but especially when you don’t have any living with you.

“Little pitchers have big ears,” even from the backseat. Big brother Jaspir overheard our remarks and turned to his sister.

“Ya, Ada. You should always share your kids.”

Happy May Day, Aunt Mollie. We love you.
