TURKEYS
One of our favorite parts of this card is the looks on our faces. We know these expressions all too well. It’s Keith’s “hold my beer” face. And mine says, “Here we go again.”
Keith thought the idea of turkeys would be too confusing on the heels of Thanksgiving. I argued that the caption about the turkey helping to make the season bright would make it clear, but he was probably correct. We got a lot of questions that year.
We also missed on the mistletoe gag. Again, I fought for it and even changed it to “missle-toe” to make it obvious —but it wasn’t. My apologies on this one.
The big box of matches were retrieved from Keith’s mom’s house after she passed away. I keep refilling the box with matches because I make everything into an heirloom. We light a lot of candles.
And, of course, The Rat makes his appearance. He is up to some dastardly mischief ala The Roadrunner cartoons. He is lighting the fuse on the Acme rockets, another nod to Wiley Coyote and the gang.
When it comes down to it, we’re really just a couple of turkeys!
